Writing Class

Hello! these is the content outline for your final project:

Writing Class

Introducing yourself

Unit 1 Journalism.

Writing:- Topic sentences- main idea- controlling idea

Unit 2 Advertising.

Three part paragraph:- Topic sentence- supporting sentences- concluding sentences. Writing an opinion about the Korean video by Kiss.

Unit 3 Finding a job

Job postings- writing a cover letter- writing a resume.

Unit 4 Pros and cons

Tree graph- transition expressions. Writing a paragraph about advantages and disadvantages.

Unit 5 Outlining

Writing a three paragraph composition- Writing a poem: persona-poem and cinquain

Now, a description of what and how you're going to include it in your final project blog:

Final Project

Create your own blog to showcase your best work!

A good way to show your portfolio is by using a blog and posting it in the Internet. The process of putting together a writing portfolio will also give you the chance to reflect on your own work and how you have grown as a writer.

For our project you'll organize your work chronologically.

You should include:

1. A title for your blog.

2. An introductory paragraph focusing on what you did during your English writing class. As you write your introductory essay, keep in mind these guidelines:

Here are some questions to consider when writing your introduction. You do not need to answer all of the questions but you can use them to guide your writing:


• What is your opinion about your writing course?
• Write a general description of your classes. What did you wrote about? What kind of paragraph writing did you learn to write?
• What exactly are you writing about in your blog? Include a table of contents listing the title, category, and date of each piece.

3. Include an entrance per unit and discuss each piece individually. Add pictures, links, or videos to illustrate your work. Here are some guiding questions. Choose one or two to address per unit discussed:


• What's the unit about?
• What did you learn in this unit?
• What skills did you work on when working in this unit?
• How did you brainstorm, revise, and edit?
• Who gave you feedback and help?

4. A conclusion reflecting on what you learned from reading the compilation of your works. Use these guidelines as you write your conclusion:

Read all of your pieces.

Here are some questions to consider when you write your project conclusion:
• Reflect on your work during the semester.
• What subject matter did you like the most? What didn't you like? What subject was interesting or boring to write about?
• What do you think about having your classes in the lab and writing a blog to showcase your work?
• How have you evolved as a writer and English student?
• What are your future writing plans?

Well, have fun working and reflecting on what you have done during our time together.

1. Unit 1 * Childhood Memories. Interviewing an older person and telling about his or her childhood memories.
2. Unit 2 * Caught in the rush. Composition and a letter to the mayor telling about Maracaibo's traffic or public service problems.
3. Unit 3 * Time for a change! Composition describing where I live, wish to change about it and my dream house.

Level 2 Tasks

Tasks we did in our Level 2 class!

1. Unit 9 * Broccoli is good for you. Draw your food pyramid and write a composition about food.
2. Unit 10 * Talents and sports. Show and tell... a composition about talents and sports.
3. Unit 11 * Festivities! Mind map of a celebration. A composition about your favorite celebration.
4. Unit 12 * At the doctors! Dialogue dramatization.
5. Unit 13 * Where's URBE? Giving directions. Draw a map and explain where places are and how to get to those places.
6. Unit 14 * Last Weekend. Composition about what I did last weekend.
7. Unit 15 * Biographies. Drawing a time line and telling about my life and the life of someone I admire.

Blog Format!

Remember you’re posting your work to the world. It’s very important you check and double check your work before post it to your blog.

What is the editing stage?

The editing stage is when you check your paragraph for mistakes and correct them.

Grammar and Spelling
1. Check your spelling.
2. Check your grammar.
3. Read your composition again.
4. Make sure each sentence has a subject.
5. See if your subjects and verbs agree with each other.
6. Check the verb tenses of each sentence.
7. Make sure that each sentence makes sense.

Hello! Welcome to our Final project blog!

Hi, there! Welcome to our Class Blog!

Here you'll find all the instructions for our final projects! For our final project we'll get our own blogs and post all we have learned and have done during our English Courses! Let's show the world our work.

The project has 3 steps:

Step 1. Collect all your work

First thing is to do is to collect all your work during the semester. When we talk about your work, we're talking about:

Step 2. Check your work with TUTORS

Now, that you have collected all your work... you have to check it with your tutor ( go to Building F, first floor and look for the ESL Center tutors at URBE).

These are Antonio, Madwin and Guillermo.

Step 3. Edit your work.

After you have check your work with URBE's tutors...

  1. write them in a word document or a power point document,
  2. edit them using the check speller. To find the ckeck speller go to Herramientas - idiomas -Ingles USA and correct your mistakes.
  3. Finally, your work is ready to be posted at your new blog.




Well, this is the first part. Make sure you follow all the steps. If you have any questions... let' me know. My online hours are evenings from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm
